Comparison of Saving Products on Czech Market
PAVLÁSKOVÁ, Terezie
The bachelor thesis focuses on bank saving products that are offered on the Czech market. In the initial part, the history and the structure of the banking system are explained. Selected products are thoroughly described. A questionnaire survey has been conducted as a part of the field study. During the survey, respondents were asked about their income, how much of it they regularly put aside and which financial products they use for savings. At the very end of the thesis, five the most common ways of saving were selected and used for comparison according to the preferences and requirements of a particular respondent. The comparison was perfrormed using multiple-criteria decision methods (specifically WSA method and scoring method). The recommendation of the most suitable saving product was compared with the answears form the survey. Liquidity, risk, interest rate and annual fee, or the state contribution were chosen as the criteria of comparison.
The Influence of Foreign Bank Ownership on the Banking System in the Czech Republic
Čermák, Jakub ; Polák, Petr (advisor) ; Hejlová, Hana (referee)
The intention of the thesis is to analyse the Czech banking sector between the years 2003 and 2017 and focus on the behaviour of the foreign banks. Analysing exhaustive quarterly data from the CNB internal database, it is shown that during the studied period, the foreign banks controlled 90% to 96% of the total banking assets in the country. The lending activities of the foreign banks are found procyclical, in contrast to the countercyclical activities of the Czech banks. Contrary to the expectations, corporate loans of the foreign banks do not show a higher degree of procyclicality than the other types of loans. Furthermore, no evidence is found for the claim that the foreign banks' lending patterns follow the business cycles of the home countries of these banks. However, the relation between the GDP growth of the foreign banks' home countries and the foreign banks' loan growth became significant during the global financial crisis between 2008 and 2009. Out of the bank performance ratios, the equity-to-assets ratio is revealed to significantly influence the loan growth of the foreign banks.

Doutnáčová, Jana ; Seidler, Jakub (advisor) ; Dózsa, Martin (referee)
vi Abstract The thesis investigates the linkages between macroeconomic performance and banks loans portfolio quality represented by the non-performing loans ratio in the Czech banking system in years 2003-2013. The empirical analysis evaluates how banks non-performing loans are influenced by several macroeconomic indicators such as GDP, inflation, interest rate, unemployment rate and exchange rate. First we investigate loans quality on the aggregate level, next we analyze the quality of loans of households and non-financial corporations sector separately as the macroeconomic variables may affect these two sectors of borrowers differently. Finally the analysis of mutual links is done for different loan categories according to the level of failure also. The empirical results from vector autoregression model and impulse response analysis generally suggest that favorable macroeconomic conditions improve banks loans quality by lowering the non-performing loans ratio and vice versa. The thesis also identifies the feedback effect of increasing non- performing loans ratio on economic performance. Keywords: banks loans quality, macrofinancial linkages, non-performing loans, Czech banking system
